Course Overview:
Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Energy
The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) is an alternative to the traditional PhD, designed to advance your career in industry. While intellectually equivalent to a PhD, the EngD focuses on industry-led research, with your project involving your company as an industrial sponsor. This provides an exceptional opportunity to work on cutting-edge research directly relevant to the industry.
Programme Overview
The EngD in Energy combines advanced technical and management training with PhD-level research in partnership with an industrial sponsor. You will gain a deep understanding of both renewable and non-renewable energy technologies, with the flexibility to tailor your technical and business training to the specific needs of your company’s research area and your career goals.
Research Focus
The EngD in Energy covers a wide range of topics within the critical areas of engineering and energy. Research projects will be directly aligned with the strategic plans of your industrial partner, ensuring that your work addresses real-world challenges and drives innovation. The energy sector plays a pivotal role across multiple industries, including transportation, environment, and manufacturing, providing vast opportunities for research.
Programme Structure
The EngD is a four-year programme, with an average of 80% of time spent in industry and 20% at the University.
